Duplicate Google Listings: How to Find and Fix Them

Why your Glendale or Surprise business isn't showing up on Google Maps

More than one Google listing for your business sounds harmless — it’s not. Duplicates split your reviews, confuse Google, and send customers to a profile you’re not even watching. Here’s how to find them and clean them up.

Why duplicates hurt you

When two listings exist for one business, your reviews and activity get divided between them, so neither looks as strong as it should. Worse, customers might land on an old, wrong, or unmonitored listing — with outdated hours or a disconnected phone number.

How to find them

  • Search your business name on Google and Google Maps and look for more than one pin.
  • Search old addresses or phone numbers you’ve used before.
  • Check for slight name variations — with and without “LLC,” abbreviations, old branding.

How to fix them the right way

Don’t just ignore a duplicate — Google lets you report it as a duplicate so the listings can be merged, which preserves your reviews. Claim the extra listing if you can, then request the merge. It’s a little tedious, but consolidating everything into one strong, verified profile is well worth it.
