Marketing in 15 Minutes a Week: A Simple Routine for Busy Owners

How much should a Phoenix small business spend on local marketing in 2026

Most owners I talk to in Peoria and the West Valley tell me the same thing. They know marketing matters. They just do not have the time. They are on a job, behind a counter, or answering calls from six in the morning until dinner.

So here is the good news. Marketing does not have to be a big project. A small routine, done every week, beats a big push you do once and forget. Fifteen minutes is enough to start.

Why a small routine works

When marketing feels huge, we put it off. Then a slow month hits and we panic. A short weekly habit takes the pressure off. You are never starting from zero, and you always know the state of your business online.

Pick one day and one time. Monday morning with your coffee works for many people. Set a phone reminder. Treat it like paying a bill.

The 15-minute routine

Minutes 1 to 4: Look at last week’s calls

Open your phone’s call log. Find every call you missed. Call or text each one back today. A missed call is a customer who may already be calling the next business on the list. If you want to understand why that matters so much, read the real cost of a missed call.

Minutes 5 to 8: Answer your reviews

Check your Google reviews. Thank anyone who left one. Keep it short and use their name. If something went wrong for a customer, answer calmly and offer to make it right. People reading your reviews are watching how you respond as much as what was said.

Minutes 9 to 12: Reach one person

Pick one person and contact them. It can be a customer from last season, someone who asked for a quote and went quiet, or a nearby business owner you would like to know. Send a short, friendly message. One person a week adds up to about fifty conversations over a year, and each one is a chance for work.

I wrote a full guide on this in win back past customers with one short text.

Minutes 13 to 15: Do one small thing to your listing or website

Add one photo of recent work. Fix one wrong detail in your hours or services. Or read your homepage on your phone and ask yourself if a stranger would know what you do and how to call you. Just one change. Do not try to fix everything in one sitting.

What to leave alone for now

You do not need to be on every social platform. You do not need a daily blog or a fancy logo refresh. If you only have fifteen minutes, spend them on calls, reviews, and people. Those are the places where a small effort can bring in real work.

Keep a simple note

At the end of each session, write one line in a notes app: what you did and what happened. After a month, look back. You will see which habits led to calls and jobs, and which did not. Keep the ones that worked.

Your task for this week

Set a recurring 15-minute reminder on your phone right now. Then, when it goes off, run the four steps above one time. That is the whole assignment.
